The long rumored “Ready or Not” sequel is finally happening with Samara Weaving returning alongside the writing and directing team at Radio Silence….
“Ready or Not” …. here they come.
Late Saturday night it was officially confirmed that Samara Weaving and the writing and directing team at Radio Silence are returning for “Ready or Not 2” — a direct sequel to the breakout horror hit from 2019.
The original film made on a budget of $6 million ended up earning more than $28 million at the box office and turned Weaving and the Radio Silence team — a group consisting of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett and Chad Villella — into household names in the horror community. The success of “Ready or Not” helped the Radio Silence team land the job to reboot the “Scream” franchise, which they did for a pair of sequels that earned both critical and commercial praise.
Now the filmmakers and the lead star from the first film are returning for the sequel, although plot details have not been revealed at this time. Original screenwriters Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy are also returning for the sequel.
The original “Ready or Not” followed Weaving’s character Grace on the day of her wedding when she finds out the family she married into made a deal with a devil many years ago that requires a blood sacrifice. After choosing a card to select a game, Grace is forced into a deadly version of Hide and Seek as her new family members attempt to hunt her down and kill her to pay off the century’s long bargain.
The film ended up winning or being nominated for numerous genre awards with critics praising the film for its originality, humor and brutal authenticity to detail while showcasing Weaving as a real leading actor.
Now they’ll do it all over again with Weaving and the Radio Silence team returning for “Ready or Not 2.”
