While Rob Zombie’s “Halloween” remake in 2007 was one of the most divisive horror films of all-time, the movie also earned over $80 million at the box office so producers were immediately interested in a sequel.
At first, Zombie had no real interest in returning because he had a less than enjoyable experience working on the original film thanks to constant interference from the studio, particularly with notes he received from Harvey Weinstein.
A year later after he had a chance to cool down, Zombie decided to return to write and direct the sequel with plans to explore the physical and emotional trauma Laurie suffered at the hands of Michael Myers and then her own struggles with sanity after discovering that the monstrous killer was also her brother.
Almost all of the surviving cast from the first film returned including Scout Taylor-Compton, Danielle Harris, Malcolm McDowell and Tyler Mane with production primarily taking place in Atlanta.
The story takes place two years after the events of the original film as Laurie struggles to put her life back together in the wake of the tragic death of her parents and almost all of her friends but she soon faces an all new nightmare when Michael Myers returns…
