Zach Cregger is sticking with Warner Bros. for his next original film after “Weapons” became a smash hit for the studio …

Fresh off a massive success with his film “Weapons,” which earned more than $270 million at the box office, Zach Cregger has set up his next original film at Warner Bros.

Cregger is set to write and direct “The Flood” — a sci-fi thriller — with a release date set for August 11, 2028.

The news was announced at CinemaCon but further details were not unveiled, although Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment is also teaming up with Cregger on the project.

It was also announced that the “Weapons” spinoff “Gladys” — an origin story based on the character that helped Amy Madigan win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards — is set for release on September 8, 2028. Cregger isn’t directing the prequel but he is co-writing the script alongside Zach Shields.

Cregger has become a mainstay at Warner Bros. after his debut film “Barbarian” became a surprise hit earning $45 million on just a $4 million budget. When Cregger was setting up his next film, which became “Weapons,” there was a bidding war among studios but Warner Bros. won out and the gamble paid off.

Now Warner Bros is betting big on Cregger again with his next original film “The Flood” with plot details being kept under wraps for now.

“I’m incredibly excited to continue my partnership with Mike, Pam, Richard, and the teams at Warner Bros. and New Line,” Cregger said about the deal. “They are true champions of bold creativity, united by a shared ambition to deliver unforgettable theatrical experiences for audiences. That’s the dream for any filmmaker.”

Next up for Cregger is his “Resident Evil” reboot — based on the popular video game series — which is slated for release on September 18 with Austin Abrams starring in the film after previously making an appearance in “Weapons.”
