David Howard Thornton has called playing The Joker his dream role and now the “Terrifier 3” star gets his chance in a twisted new fan film…
“Terrifier 3” star David Howard Thornton already plays an iconic clown but he’s still dreaming about playing another one in the DC Universe.
Following three films portraying Art the Clown In the “Terrifier” universe, Thornton finally got the chance to portray The Joker in a disturbing new fan film called “Jokers Wild,” which is a twisted take on a storyline made famous during the 1988 comic book “Batman: Death in the Family.”
In that story, the Joker manages to get the drop on Batman’s sidekick Robin before bashing his head in with a crowbar, leading to one of the more gruesome deaths in DC history.
“Jokers Wild” takes a stab at a similar take with Thornton portraying the Clown Prince of Crime after he captures Robin and proceeds to torture him while awaiting his arch nemesis Batman to arrive.
During the promotion for “Terrifier 3,” Thornton addressed his desire to one day play The Joker in a major DC production after actors like Jack Nicholson, Joaquin Phoenix and the late Heath Ledger famously played the role across several films.
“The Joker is my favorite villain of all time, and that’s a character I would love to play myself one day,” Thornton told GamesRadar. “So hopefully someone like James Gunn gives me the opportunity to tackle that character because I would like to do a lot of fun things with him.”
It remains to be seen if Thornton ever gets his chance to play The Joker in a major DC production, although James Gunn — who serves as co-CEO over DC — hasn’t actually cast anyone in that role yet as he continues plans to revamp and reboot the entire film and television universe.
For now, Thornton takes his stab at The Joker in this well produced fan film from Aaron W. Bennett. Take a look at “Jokers Wild” above.
