Writer and director Michael Shanks has been with his partner for over 16 years and he recognized at one point that he’s never been an adult without her in his life.
They became so much a part of each other’s lives that they share the same friends, live together and Shanks started to realize that he didn’t know where he ended and she began.
He was also consumed with the idea of paying homage to some of the classic 1980s body horror films but he knew he had to take a slightly different approach if he wanted to remain original.
That gave him the inspiration for a script he actually started writing back in 2018 about a co-dependent couple attempting to navigate a difficult period in their relationship.
After moving to a remote location for isolation as well as giving them time to find out if they are still truly compatible, the couple starts experiencing some truly strange encounters and when their bodies begin fusing together in one monstrous amalgamation, they realize there may be no escaping each other ever again …
