“Terrifier 3” star Lauren LaVera has landed her next major role joining Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou in a new horror film from a veteran of the “Saw” franchise…
On the heels of her starring role in “Terrifier 2” and “Terrifier 3,” Lauren LaVera has landed one of the leading roles in the upcoming horror film “The Monster,” which comes from “Saw II” director Darren Lynn Bousman.
LaVera is one of the co-leads in the film alongside two-time Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou, who was previously announced for the project with a screenplay from Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer (Steven Soderberg’s “Unsane”).
Here’s the plot synopsis for “The Monster”:
The Monster follows two millennials who make quick money by leasing incredible New York City apartments they don’t own to people who don’t know they are being scammed. The con works brilliantly until they run into an apartment owner with a dark secret who flips the game on them.
After getting her start as a body double in the M. Night Shyamalan film “Split,” LaVera scored her biggest role to date when she became a co-lead in Damien Leone’s horror sequel “Terrifier 2.” Her character Sienna Shaw became the new final girl of the franchise and she returned for another battle with Art the Clown in “Terrifier 3,” which opened No. 1 at the box office after earning more than $18 million on just a $2 million budget.
“Terrifier 3” has now surpassed $43.8 million at the worldwide box office.
In addition to her roles in the “Terrifier” films, LaVera has also appeared in the Italian horror movie “The Well” and just recently appeared in NBC’s “Law & Order: Organized Crime.” She also has a role in Mike Flanagan’s next film “The Life of Chuck,” which is set for release in 2025.
Filming for “The Monster” is expected to kick off in November in Danbury, Conn. with Bousman leading the film after he directed several sequels in the “Saw” franchise as well as the cult classic “Repo! The Genetic Opera.”
