Patrick Dempsey confirms he’s had talks to potentially reprise his role as Mark Kincaid in “Scream 7″…
It looks like Sidney Prescott’s husband may be returning for “Scream 7.”
Patrick Dempsey — who portrayed LAPD detective Mark Kincaid in “Scream 3” and later received a mention as Sidney’s husband in “Scream 5” — confirmed he’s had discussions about reprising his role in the upcoming sequel “Scream 7” due out on February 26, 2026.
Dempsey confirmed the news during an appearance on “The Today Show.”
“I’m waiting on the script,” Dempsey said. “There has been a conversation about it. I haven’t seen anything yet. So, we’ll see what happens.”
While Dempsey only appeared in the third film in the franchise, his character was later confirmed as Sidney Prescott’s husband when she mentioned him and her children while speaking to Dewey Riley on the phone during “Scream 5.” The directors and writers behind the film later confirmed that Sidney’s husband “Mark” was indeed the same LAPD detective hell bent on rescuing her from harm in “Scream 3” when she discovered her long lost brother Roman Bridger was responsible for setting off the chain of events that led to Billy Loomis and Stu Macher murdering her mother.
There have been lots of casting rumors about “Scream 7” but very few confirmations outside of Neve Campbell returning to the franchise she made famous after sitting out the sixth film over a salary dispute with the studio. Campbell eventually came to terms to return for “Scream 7” after it appeared the sequel was nearly dead following Melissa Barrera’s firing and news that Jenna Ortega would not return for the new film.
In addition to Campbell’s return, original “Scream” screenwriter Kevin Williamson is returning to direct the seventh film in the franchise with a script from Guy Busick, who also penned the fifth and sixth films in the franchise.
