Production has officially wrapped on the final season of “Stranger Things.”
The fifth season of the show has been filming for the past year as the cast and crew prepare for one final journey into the Upside Down in the long running Netflix series.
On Friday, series co-creator Ross Duffer posted a lengthy message after production wrapped with “Stranger Things” set to return for the final episodes sometime in 2025.
“We’ve been telling this story for nearly a decade now,” Duffer wrote. “Many of our cast members joined us when they were kids, just ten or eleven years old. It wasn’t just a show for them—it was a defining part of their childhood. They’ve grown up before our eyes, becoming more than actors—they’ve become family.
But it’s not just the cast we consider family. Our crew—many of whom have been with us from the very beginning—holds a special place in our hearts. Their dedication and passion have been the backbone of this journey.“Everyone involved was determined to bring this story to a satisfying conclusion. They poured their hearts and souls into it, and we couldn’t be more proud of what they’ve accomplished. We can’t wait to share it with you all next year. Until then—over and out.”
When it was announced that “Stranger Things” would be coming to an end with the fifth and final season, the news was met with both sadness and elation after creators Matt and Ross Duffer said they’ve always had a specific plan in mind for how the show would end.
While there are only eight total episodes in the final season of “Stranger Things” cast members like Maya Hawke have teased that each installment is “very long” and “we’re making basically eight movies.”
Millie Bobby Brown, who shot to stardom after landing the role of Eleven on the series, posted a short goodbye message after production wrapped with photos from her time on the show.
“With love, El,” Brown wrote.
Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike on “Stranger Things” also posted his own message saying goodbye to the show that helped make him a household name.
“We just wrapped Stranger things Season 5. I’m still in shock,” Wolfhard wrote. “We shot it for a year and I’ll miss all of my friends and our characters terribly. When I think of the show, I picture this first photo. A bunch of goofy young people making something they think is cool but really have no clue what’s to come. I feel like we’re still those people and I’m lucky to still stand beside them today. I hope you’ll love this season as much as I do. See you all next year.”
When the series returns, it’s going to be 1987 and the events of the season 4 finale are still impacting the town of Hawkins, Indiana and all of the characters after a crack between our world and the Upside Down was opened up. Here are the episode titles for the final season of “Stranger Things.”
