“Scream VII” is officially set for release in February 2026 after franchise star Neve Campbell revealed the date on Tuesday…
Get ready to “Scream” again with the latest sequel in the long-running horror franchise officially receiving a release date.
“Scream VII” is set for release on February 27, 2026.
The news was revealed by series star Neve Campbell on social media after she previously announced that she would be returning to the franchise after sitting out “Scream VI” due to salary disputes with the studio.
“It’s gonna be a killer 2026,” Campbell wrote alongside the announcement.
Campbell returned for “Scream VII” after openly criticizing the studio for failing to pay her properly after carrying the franchise for the first five films dating back to the original released in 1996.
The latest installment in the horror franchise is set to be directed by Kevin Williamson — the original screenwriter who created the entire “Scream” universe” — with a script from Guy Busick, who previously wrote both “Scream V” and “Scream VI.”
Plans for “Scream VII’ changed dramatically after Spyglass — the studio producing the film — abruptly fired series star Melissa Barrera over posts she made on social media regarding the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine. Soon after Barrera departed, Jenna Ortega announced that she also wouldn’t be returning for “Scream VII” due to scheduling conflicts with the production schedule with her Netflix series “Wednesday.”
Just when it looked like Ghostface was down for the count, Campbell announced that she was returning to the franchise with Williamson directing the latest installment as they team together for the first time since “Scream IV,” which was released back in 2011.
There’s no word yet on additional cast members for “Scream VII,” although Courteney Cox — who remains the only person to appear in all six films — revealed recently that she hadn’t come to an agreement yet on returning for the latest sequel.
