Writer and director Leigh Whannell made a surprise hit with his reinvention of the classic Universal monster movie “The Invisible Man” so it wasn’t a surprise that Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum reached out to him about a new take on “The Wolf Man.”
The original classic from 1941 spawned numerous remakes and films that paid homage but Whannell wasn’t sure if he wanted to dive into another genre piece after just making “The Invisible Man.”
What finally hooked him was Blum telling him not to commit to anything but just think about what his version of “The Wolf Man” would look like.
That was all it took for Whannell to begin contemplating how he would take a stab at the film and he soon teamed up with his wife to work on the screenplay.

What they find waiting for them is far more horrific, especially after they’re attacked by some kind of beast that is more wolf than man…
