The success of “Final Destination” made a sequel almost a foregone conclusion with the original taking home more than $112 million at the worldwide box office.
Original writer Jeffrey Reddick was contacted about coming up with a story for the second film and he really wanted to expand on the mythology of death’s design rather than just making a sequel with almost the exact same premise as the first film.
Unfortunately some of his plans fell by the wayside after “Final Destination” star Devon Sawa was unavailable to return so that forced certain changes to the story but Ali Larter did agree to come back to portray Clear Rivers again after she was the only other survivor from the first film.
This time around the story picks up one year after the tragedy that was Flight 180 bound for Paris and the mysterious deaths that soon followed for the few survivors from the plane crash. A young woman named Kimberly is preparing to leave for Spring Break with her friends on drive to Florida when she has a premonition about a deadly car crash involving ai log truck and dozens of deaths on the highway.
When Kimberly wakes up and realizes she was only dreaming but then spots the log truck zooming up the highway, she decides to intervene and interrupt death’s design…
