Kathryn Newton is reteaming with the writers and directors at Radio Silence for the upcoming sequel “Ready or Not 2″…
Kathryn Newton — best known for her roles in “Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania” and “Lisa Frankenstein” — is set to join the cast for the upcoming sequel “Ready or Not 2.”
She joins a cast that already includes original star Samara Weaving as both actors are reteaming with the writing and directing crew known as Radio Silence — Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett directing with Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy writing the script — after working with them on previous projects. While Weaving has actually appeared in a couple of projects headed up by Radio Silence, this is Newton’s second time working with them after appearing in the vampire horror film “Abigail” in 2024.
The original film saw Weaving as a young bride marrying into a wealthy and eccentric family but on her wedding night she learns that she’s actually the pawn in a centuries’ old tradition where she ends up being hunted down to appease an ancient curse that made the family rich but also forced them to sacrifice a potential new member every year or risk the entire bloodline being wiped out.
While the plot for the upcoming sequel is still under wraps, Weaving was the only survivor from the original film so there’s no telling where this story ends up and how Newton’s new character fits into it all.
With casting underway, “Ready or Not 2” is likely going to head into production later this year, although there’s no release date yet for the sequel after the original was released in 2019.
