Jeffrey Wright — fresh off his Oscar nomination for the film “American Fiction” — has been cast in a pivotal yet familiar role for “The Last of Us” season 2.
Production is already underway on the highly anticipated second season with Wright joining the show as Isaac — “the quietly powerful leader of a large militia group who sought liberty but instead has become mired in an endless war against a surprisingly resourceful enemy.”
The role should come pretty easy for Wright considering he already voiced Isaac in “The Last of Us Part II” video game.
Isaac played a pivotal role in “The Last of Us” sequel game and it’s likely he’ll be just as important for the series that earned a number of Emmy nominations for its first season.
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey return as the leads for “The Last of Us” season 2 alongside series regulars Gabriel Luna and Rutina Wesley. The cast also includes Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, and Danny Ramirez as Manny.
Catherine O’Hara is also guest starring in “The Last of Us” season 2 but her role remains undisclosed at this time.
As for Wright, he’s no stranger to starring in popular TV series after previously appearing on “Westworld,” which also aired on HBO. He’s a five-time Emmy nominee and also starred in films such as “The Batman” and “The Hunger Games” series as well.
The second season of “The Last of Us” is set to debut sometime in 2025.
