James Wan — perhaps best known for his work on “The Conjuring” series as well as “Insidious” and “Aquaman” — is getting back into the director’s chair for an English language remake of the Korean serial killer thriller “The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil” for Paramount.

The original film released in 2019 centers around a gangster who is forced to team up with a cop to track down a notorious serial killer and they both face unique challenges from their respective enemies.

Ma Dong-seok, who starred in the original Korean film as well as movies such as “Train to Busan” and Marvel’s “The Eternals,” is also attached to star in the remake from Wan.

Wan teased his plans for the film on Instagram.

“THE GANGSTER, THE COP, THE DEVIL — is my return to the serial killer genre, but with a supernatural twist,” Wan wrote.

Shay Hatten, who has worked on films in the “John Wick” universe as well as Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon” movies, is penning the script. Wan is producing the film from his Blumhouse-Atomic Monster label with Paramount Skydance serving as the studio and distributor for the film.

While he’s best known for his work in horror, Wan has crossed over to make numerous other films including a pair of movies that earned over $1 billion at the box office with “Aquaman” and “Furious 7” — part of “The Fast and Furious” franchise.

“The Gangster, the Cop, The Devil” also transcends several genres as a gangster movie, a cop thriller and a cat-and-mouse game hunting for a brutal serial killer.
