In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we’re going to decline a hypnotism session and stay out of the Sunken Place as we review the 2017 horror film “Get Out”
Jordan Peele was a well-established comedic actor and writer, primarily known for his sketch comedy due “Key and Peele.”
But he always understood the strange similarities between horror and comedy and he took some inspiration from past films like “The Stepford Wives” along with his own experiences operating as a Black man in a predominantly white world to craft the story for his directorial debut.
He also remembered a past interaction with the fear and paranoia he faced after learning that he was about to meet his white girlfriend’s parents and they had no idea he was Black.
Peele crafted that into a story about a young Black photographer named Chris, who is going away for the weekend with his girlfriend to meet her family under the same exact premise.
Chris starts feeling even more disturbed after arriving in this idyllic town where everything just seems a little bit off and uncomfortable tension eventually explodes into a horrifying realization of what’s actually happening.
