Courteney Cox has finally closed her deal to return for “Scream 7” as she remains the only legacy cast member to appear in all of the films in the franchise….
Courteney Cox is officially returning for “Scream 7.”
After months of speculation on whether or not Cox would reprise her role as Gale Weathers for the upcoming sequel in the long running horror franchise, she has finally reached a deal to return to the next film set for release on February 27, 2026.
Cox had previously teased that she wasn’t actually signed yet to return for “Scream 7,” which left many fans wondering if perhaps her streak as the only legacy cast member to appear in every film in the series would come to an end.
Now she’s closed her deal to return as Cox joins Neve Campbell in the latest sequel as she returns as Sidney Prescott after sitting out for “Scream 6” over salary disputes with the studio.
The latest “Scream” film is being directed by original screenwriter Kevin Williamson and Cox was very excited about the chance to work with him again after he wrote the scripts for the three of the original four films in the series.
“You can’t get better than that choice,” Cox said about Williamson returning to direct ‘Scream 7.’ “It’s going to be fun.”
The script for “Scream 7” is being penned by Guy Busick, who also wrote “Scream 5” and “Scream 6.”
The cast joining Cox and Campbell in “Scream 7” includes Mason Gooding, who returns as Chad Meeks-Martin after appearing in both “Scream 5” and “Scream 6.” First timers joining the “Scream” family include Isabel May, who is set to play Sidney’s daughter in the horror sequel, and she’s joined by Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner and Anna Camp.
Filming on “Scream 7” is expected to begin in 2025 with the release date already set for Feb. 27, 2026.
