Camila Mendes and Madelyn Cline are set to star in the newest installment in the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” reboot due out in 2025…
The upcoming “I Know What You Did Last Summer” reboot has found its lead stars.
Camila Mendes — best known for her roles on “Riverdale” as well as the Netflix film “Do Revenge” — and Madelyn Cline — the star of the hit Netflix series “Outer Banks” — have been cast in the upcoming reboot of the horror franchise that first launched back in 1997.
Original series stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. are also in talks to return after starring in the first two installments in the series.
Additional cast members in talks to join “I Know What You Did Last Summer” include Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers and Jonah Hauer-King,
Mendes joining the cast re-teams her with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who directed “Do Revenge” for Netflix. Robinson also co-wrote the script for the film alongside Sam Lansky following an initial draft from Leah McKendrick.
The upcoming “I Know What You Did Last Summer” reboot is on the fast track for release with the film set to debut on July 18, 2025.
The original film with a screenplay from “Scream” creator Kevin Williamson followed a group of friends who are celebrating their final year of high school when they cover up a tragic accident after running down a man in the middle of the road. One year later when they all return to the same small town, they are hunted by a killer with a hook who knows what they did last summer.
The story for the upcoming reboot remains a mystery but assuming Hewitt and Prinze are coming back, there are obviously going to be some kind of ties to the original film.
