“In a Violent Nature” is getting a sequel with the point-of-view slasher returning for a new film from IFC Films and Shudder….

Johnny is going on the hunt again.

Following the success of “In a Violent Nature” — a slasher film that takes place almost solely from the point-of-view of the killer rather than his victims — is returning for a sequel with IFC Films and Shudder producing. The news was announced during the “Bold Voices of Contemporary Horror” panel at San Diego Comic Con on Friday along with a special appearance from Johnny — the hulking, silent killing machine from the movie.

“In a Violent Nature” has been one of the most talked about horror films of 2024 and already became one of the top 10 highest grossing movies for IFC Films. The film finally lands on Shudder for streaming starting on Friday, September 13.

“‘In a Violent Nature’ was originally conceived as a meta-sequel within a fictional slasher series, so we were always imagining mayhem beyond the scope of the original film,” Peter Kuplowsky — one of the producers on the project — said in a statement. “That we now have the opportunity to continue following Johnny on his restless walk has us feeling incredibly grateful to our incredible partners at IFC Films / Shudder who believed in Chris’ vision from day one. We are thrilled to return for a new chapter and are excited to deploy Johnny as a conduit to further experiments in the genre.”

Original writer and director Chris Nash is returning as a screenwriter on the sequel but there’s no word on whether or not he’ll be directing the film.

The first film follows Johnny after he’s resurrected from his grave and he begins stalking and killing a group of unsuspecting teens who made the ill fated mistake of waking him up from his eternal slumber. “In a Violent Nature” fashions Johnny after the classic slashers from the 1980s such as Jason Voorhees from “Friday the 13th” or Michael Myers from the “Halloween” franchise except this time you’re just following him during his murderous exploits.
