The “Stranger Things” trailer for volume 2 in season 5 promises an emotional ending in the last few episodes leading up to the finale…

“You die, I die.”

Those are the words spoken by Dustin Henderson and Steve Harrington as they prepare for a final confrontation with Vecna and the Upside Down ahead of “Stranger Things” season 5, volume 2 with the next three episodes dropping on Christmas day.

The new trailer reveals the stakes as Vecna continues to invade Hawkins with the purpose to remake the entire world in his own image, which started in volume 1 by kidnapping several children including Holly Wheeler.

The three episodes to come are titled “Chapter Five: Shock Jock,” “Chapter Six: Escape from Camazotz” and “Chapter Seven: The Bridge.”

“Stranger Things” co-creator Ross Duffer teased what’s to come in these three episodes along with what is surely to be an emotional seventh episode leading into the series finale, which debuts on New Year’s Eve.

“Shock Jock” picks up moments after the end of “Sorcerer”. Frank Darabont is back, but he flexes very different muscles on this one than he did on “Turnbow Trap”— it’s far darker, and far scarier,” Duffer wrote on Instagram.

“Escape from Camazotz” is Shawn Levy’s return to the director’s chair. It’s the biggest episode of the three— and the performances make us cry every time we watch it.

“The Bridge”… we co-directed this one with Shawn. Don’t want to say too much, but aside from the finale, it’s probably the most emotional chapter of the season. It’s gonna be a long six day wait for the finale…”

There’s plenty to digest in the trailer including the revelation that the Upside Down isn’t exactly what the lead characters in “Stranger Things” have always assumed — what that means and how that ties into the finale remains to be seen.

Of course, the end of “Stranger Things” volume 1 also revealed that Will Byers has powers — not the exact same kind of powers as Eleven but rather he’s tapped into the same source as Vecna, which means he’s able to connect to big bad in this final season and perhaps use those abilities against him. Will already saved the day in the fourth episode of volume 1 but what does Vecna have in store for him in volume 2?

We’ll have to wait a few more days to find out with the three episodes in “Stranger Things” season 5, volume 2 set for release on Christmas Day at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. For now, check out the new trailer above.
