The unnerving breakout horror hit “Smile” now has a sequel due out on October 18 when “Smile 2” lands in theaters and the first trailer has arrived.
Writer and director Parker Finn returns for the second film after the original “Smile” earned over $217 million at the box office on just a $17 million budget.
The success of that film led to Paramount almost immediately ordering a sequel with Finn changing the setting and the lead characters for his story about a malevolent, evil force that always comes with a grin on its face just before torturing and killing its victims.
Here’s the synopsis for “Smile 2”
“About to embark on a new world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) begins experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to face her dark past to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control.”
“Smile 2” stars Naomi Scott in the lead role along with Rosemarie DeWitt, Kyle Gallner, Lukas Gage, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Peter Jacobson, Raúl Castillo, Dylan Gelula and Ray Nicholson.
