HBO has revealed a first look at the highly anticipated second season of “The Last of Us” as well as a glimpse at “IT: Welcome to Derry”….
In a new promo video previewing a ton of programming, HBO revealed a first look at “The Last of Us” season 2 as well as a brief glimpse of the upcoming series “IT: Welcome to Derry” with Bill Skarsgard reprising his role as the infamous Pennywise the Clown.
The clip from “The Last of Us” season 2 gave us a 30 second look at what’s to come in the highly anticipated sophomore effort after the first season broke all sorts of viewing records at HBO. Based on the video game series of the same name, Pedro Pascal plays Joel — a hardened survivor in a post-apocalyptic wasteland after a fungal infection turns the vast majority of the population into mindless, killing zombies — and he’s tasked with transporting a 14-year-old girl named Ellie (Bella Ramsey) across the country because she may be the key to stopping this deadly infection from spreading even further.
“The Last of Us” season 2 clip gives us a look at both Joel and Ellie along with Isabela Merced as Dina and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac plus Catherine O’Hara’s mystery character, who is questioning Joel about his actions to save Ellie during season 1.
There’s no word on when “The Last of Us” season 2 will debut on HBO but it’s expected sometime in 2025.
As for the first look at “IT: Welcome to Derry,” that was even shorter but you could hear Skarsgard’s unmistakable laugh as Pennywise the Clown in the background. The story for the prequel series with events that happen prior to “IT: Chapter One” and “IT: Chapter Two” were developed by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs, who also worked on the original films.
That horror series is also expected to debut sometime in 2025.
For now, take a look at the new clips for those two series and you can watch the full promo video below, which also features moments from the new “Game of Thrones” spinoff and the next installment of “The White Lotus.”
