“The Conjuring” series, which has spawned 2 sequels and numerous spinoffs, is coming to an end with a fourth and final film planned for release in 2025…
Ed and Lorraine Warren are preparing to close up shop.
A fourth film in “The Conjuring” series starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga is set for release on September 5, 2025 with Warner Bros. billing the new movie as the “finale” for the main series of films.
Michael Chavez is returning to direct after he also worked on the latest sequel “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who wrote that film and “The Conjuring 2” is also returning to pen the script for the fourth and final film in the series.
James Wan launched “The Conjuring” with the original film in 2013 with the movie grossing over $319 million at the box office on just a $20 million budget. The success of that film led to two more films set in “The Conjuring” universe with Wilson and Farmiga reprising their characters, who are based on real life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.
Beyond the main films in “The Conjuring” timeline, the franchise has also continued to find success with numerous spinoffs including several “Annabelle” films — based on the possessed doll featured in the original films — as well as “The Nun” and “The Nun II.” Combined, “The Conjuring” franchise has earned more than $2 billion at the box office.
It’s long been rumored that the next film in the main timeline for “The Conjuring” would be its last but now that’s finally confirmed.
No details were made available about the story or the plot at the heart of the latest film in the series but get ready to say goodbye to the Warrens when “The Conjuring” opens in 2025.
