Just weeks ahead of the highly anticipated release of “Terrifier 3,” a fourth film in the horror franchise is officially on the way.
Ahead of the official debut at Fantastic Fest on Thursday, “Terrifier” franchise creator Damien Leone confirmed plans for a fourth film in his long running series focused on the murderous mute, Art the Clown.
“Yes there will be a ‘Terrifier 4,'” Leone said to a raucous crowd at the film festival.
The news comes ahead of the October 11 release of “Terrifier 3” into theaters after “Terrifier 2” became a breakout hit in the fall of 2022.
Made on a small budget for just $250,000, “Terrifier 2” ended up earning more than $15.7 million at the box office, which almost automatically led to a third film in the series getting the green light.
Leone originally created “Terrifier” as a way to show off his incredible practical effects, which he used to great extremes through the bloody exploits of his lead character Art the Clown (played by David Howard Thornton). The second film ended up becoming a huge favorite amongst horror fans and now “Terrifier 3” is poised for an even bigger opening when the sequel arrives on Oct. 11.
The “Terrifier 3” cast also includes Lauren LaVera as Sienna, Elliot Fullam as Jonathan Shaw, Samantha Scaffidi as Victoria Heyes and Chris Jericho as Burke, who are all returning from “Terrifier 2.”
