Eddie Munson won’t get an encore performance in the final season of “Stranger Things” despite fans begging for one more appearance …

It appears Eddie Munson won’t get an encore performance during the final season of “Stranger Things.”

Despite numerous fan theories and hopes pinned on Joseph Quinn potentially reprising his role for at least a posthumous appearance for his character during the fifth season of the popular Netflix show, the creators behind “Stranger Things” say it’s just not happening.

Of course, Quinn became a household name after portraying rocker and Hellfire Club leader Eddie Munson during “Stranger Things” season 4 before ultimately sacrificing himself — after shredding a solo on Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” — to help his friends hunt down Vecna in the Upside Down. His death was definitely a heartbreaking moment in the show but fans immediately began guessing at how Eddie could potentially come back but “Stranger Things” co-creator Matt Duffer says it’s just not meant to be.

“I love that Joe Quinn is toying with people! But no, he’s dead,” Duffer told Empire Magazine. “Joe is so busy anyway, that everyone should know he’s not coming back. He’s shot like five movies since! When the hell has he got time to come and shoot ‘Stranger Things‘? No, sadly, RIP. He’s fully under that ground.”

After Quinn rocketed to stardom for his appearance in “Stranger Things,” the 31-year-old British actor scored numerous roles in prominent films such as “A Quiet Place: Day One,” “Gladiator 2,” and “Fantastic Four: First Steps.” He’s also slated to appear in the upcoming Marvel film “Avengers: Doomsday” as well as playing George Harrison in the new Beatles biopic from Academy Award winning director Sam Mendes.

As for “Stranger Things,” the series is returning for a fifth and final season with eight episodes that kick off with the first four episodes dropping on November 26 followed by three more on Christmas Day and then the series finale dropping on New Year’s Eve.

The denial about Quinn’s return from the creators behind “Stranger Things” could still be a smokescreen for a potentially seismic surprise return, especially considering the show spent a full year filming the final eight episodes and it’s tough to believe the actor couldn’t have slipped away to join the production for a few days.

But for now, we’ll just go with the statement and say rest in peace to Eddie Munson.
