The original “Silent Night, Deadly Night” remains one of the most controversial horror films of all time after a maniac dressed in a Santa Claus suit who went in a killing spree had parents up in arms and protesting movie theaters across the United States.
The reaction was so visceral that the studio behind the project pulled down all the ads and then not long after the movie just disappeared from theaters.
But the word was out — this was one Christmas horror story worth watching and the film went onto become a cult classic and spawned several sequels — including a couple of truly forgettable entries.
A remake titled simply “Silent Night” was released to mixed reviews in 2012 but plans for another reboot have been in the works seemingly ever since.
It wasn’t until 2024 when the project finally got off the ground with “Wrong Turn” filmmaker Mike P. Nelson brought on board to direct the feature that was produced by the same studio behind the “Terrifier” franchise.
Rohan Campbell, best known for his role in “Halloween Ends,” was cast as the new Billy Chapman and filming got underway in Canada.
Much like the original, Billy Chapman is haunted by the murder of his parents by a man in a Santa suit but he cuts a much different killing spree on his own with the voices in his head screaming to kill the naughty in order to save the nice …
