“IT” Chapter One and “IT” Chapter Two” will eventually transform into a supercut with new scenes telling a complete story….

With “IT: Welcome to Derry” season 2 already planned, original “IT” director Andy Muschietti is still planning to return to his original films to create a supercut that will include previously cut scenes as well as new material that requires additional production.

Muschietti has actually been planning on making a supercut for quite some time but the success of “IT: Welcome to Derry” delayed things, especially after the series became a hit for HBO. While the show hasn’t officially been renewed for season 2, Muschietti is hard at work developing the next installment after previously revealing a three-season arc for the series.

But an “IT” supercut that would combing both “IT: Chapter One” and “IT: Chapter Two” is definitely going to happen eventually.

“We didn’t have time to do it because we were involved in all kind of projects,” Muschietti told Slash Film. “The show had a priority over the supercut.

“We’re in a moment now where we can definitely go to the studio and ask for support, but when is the question. They can say, ‘Yeah, go for it,’ but now we are sort of committed, like happily committed, to season 2 of ‘Welcome to Derry.’ And there’s other movie projects going around. But we’re going to do it.”

The plans for an “IT” supercut would include previously deleted scenes that were removed for time constraints as well as new scenes that Muschietti would shoot specifically for the new version of the film.

The runtime is expected to exceed six hours.

“It will possibly have a different structure and will have extra scenes, added scenes,” Muschietti said. “I still have to film some of them … because they are the interstitial fabric between the pieces of the story.”

“IT: Chapter One” and “IT: Chapter Two” were both very successful films as Muschietti put his stamp on the classic Stephen King book that was previously made into a miniseries back in 1990. The original films were split into two parts with the first telling the story about the Loser’s Club battling against Pennywise the Clown in 1988 and then “IT: Chapter Two” picking up 27 years later in 2016 as the friends return to Derry to once again battle the menacing force of nature known as IT.
