In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we’re going to remember that one night stands are a bad idea and that love hurts as we review the 2024 thriller “Strange Darling”…

Writer and director J.T. Mollner is a self-confessed cinephile who loves movies and filmmaking and the idea for his latest project sprang to life based on a single image he got stuck in his head.

The vision was a woman running through the woods in hospital scrubs in slow motion with the classic Nazereth song ‘Love Hurts’ playing over the scene. It was from that image that Mollner started to craft his story.

Mollner said once he began writing, the script actually ended up becoming incredibly easy for him to put together and it was a story told in non-linear format. He injected elements of an erotic thriller, a cat-and-mouse game with a serial killer and a character study drenched in horror.

The final result was one of the most creative and unique films so far of the year…
