It was after he was done shooting that project and his friend tore down the sets at a house owned by some friends of his that he was struck with an idea for another movie.
With access to this old house with one room in particular that really spoke to him, McCarthy thought he’d be foolish not to explore this space and that’s where he started fleshing out a new script.
McCarthy knew that filmmaking was a completely unpredictable industry so he learned to pour everything he had into each project, which is why his next script held elements of being a slasher, a haunted house story and a psychological thriller.
The story involves a woman staying alone at a remote house she recently purchased alongside her husband when a frantic visitor arrives begging her to open the door because when she had her back turned, he saw someone slip inside.
The tension only ratchets up from there as a tragedy then leads to a victim’s sister searching for answers to discover what really happened on that fateful night one year earlier…
