Screenwriter Drew Hancock was working in Hollywood, primarily on staff for comedy series such as “Blue Mountain State” and “Suburgatory” but when the pandemic hit in 2020 and just about everybody had to hit pause on their careers, he started to realize he wasn’t all that happy with his station in life.
So Hancock started working on a script that was totally out of his wheelhouse with ties to science-fiction, horror and thrillers and an almost “Black Mirror” quality to his work.
But even then Hancock felt like he wasn’t leaning into his strengths and he wasn’t really injecting his voice into the script. So he revised his plans and added comedy elements into his script and suddenly, Hancock had something that was getting rave reviews as it passed around the industry.
Eventually, Hancock landed a deal to actually make his directorial debut for the script that he had written and it was like a dream come true because he could fully realize what he wanted this story to become.
The film centers around a young couple named Josh and Iris, who are traveling to a remote cabin to spend a weekend with friends but after arriving, Iris realizes something feels off and when the bodies start to pile up, nothing you’ve been watching is as it seems….
