In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we’re going to run for our lives but unlike this movie there will be plenty of dialogue as we review the 2024 film “Azrael”…

After finding success collaborating with close friend Adam Wingard on films such as “You’re Next,” “The Guest” and “Blair Witch,” screenwriter Simon Barrett started to feel like his scripts were starting to rely a little bit too much on clever or sarcastic dialogue.

So for his next project, Barrett decided he wanted to challenge himself with a more action based script with a female lead character where you would understand what she’s doing rather than what she’s saying.

Barrett was then haunted by a nightmare he had two nights in a row about a vision for the future and it was after that second night that he felt like it might be worth writing down the idea — a religious dream where nobody spoke and that gave him all the inspiration he needed to hammer out a full script.

The story involves a dystopian future where a young woman escapes a group of silent zealots who are attempting to sacrifice her to an ultimate evil but she will do anything and everything to survive…
