Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga wrapped a bow on their time as Ed and Lorraine Warren after finishing filming on the final film in “The Conjuring” series…
It’s sad to say goodbye but Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga have officially wrapped production in their last appearance as Ed and Lorraine Warren after filming completed on “The Conjuring: Last Rites” — the fourth and final film in the long running horror series.
Both actors posted fitting tributes to the characters they’ve played as an on-screen married couple since James Wan’s “The Conjuring’ first dropped in theaters back in 2013. Wilson and Farmiga are returning for “The Conjuring: Last Rites,” which is due out on September 5, 2025 with Michael Chaves directing this latest installment in the franchise.
Farmiga first posted on Instagram with a tribute to Wilson after playing husband and wife for over a decade in the horror series.
“Roundabout 5000 days ago, this guy and I signed a WB contract and said “I do” to embodying Ed and Lorraine Warren,” Farmiga wrote. “Today, he wraps. I have another 12 hours of laughter and insanity with him and then abruptly, he will walk off set, peel off sweat soaked demonologist garb, shave off his side burns, flash that dazzling smile and bid our fake marriage adieu.
“Yeah… I got them feels today. It was a match made in heaven, PWilz. A hell of an era. Here’s to 12 years. I cherish you.”
Following Farmiga’s tribute, Wilson took to Instagram for one of his own, which paid homage to his co-stars as well as directors both past and present from the franchise.
“As the sun sets on the Conjuring franchise… I am overwhelmed,” Wilson wrote. “There aren’t enough thanks to go around for the thousands of people who’ve contributed to the making of these films… and the millions who’ve watched them. Vera Farmiga … what to say? Our fake marriage has lasted longer than many real ones. I adore you. Michael Chaves You have beautifully taken the reins and I can’t WAIT to see this one put together. Thank you to all the co-stars/supporting roles over the years…. Especially our newest additions, Mia & Ben.
“Thank you Peter, and all the producers and Warner Bros. for supporting us… And then there’s James Wan. We’ve had a good run… and we ain’t done yet. Love you man! Ed Warren…out.”
For his part, Wan also left a heartfelt comment on Wilson’s post as the series he started in 2013 comes to a close at least with the main two stars who have stuck around from the very beginning.
“The characters that you and Vera have breathed life into will endure forever,” Wan wrote. “Not every day we get to create this kind of cinematic legacy. Thank you, buddy. Forever indebted to you.”
Of course, Wilson and Wan have remained collaborators beyond “The Conjuring” universe because they also worked together on the “Insidious” films, which just released “Insidious: The Red Door” in 2023.
With filming wrapped, post-production now begins with “The Conjuring: The Last Rites” set for release on September 5, 2025.
