In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we’re going to crack open our “One Wish Willow” and hope our greatest desires don’t kill us as we review the 2026 film “Obsession”….
After first coming to acclaim for his YouTube horror film “Milk and Serial,” which was shot for just $800, 26-year-old director Curry Barker suddenly became one of the hottest names in horror.
That led to his first feature film getting the green light and Barker was off and running. Originally, Barker had an idea about two people who are utterly obsessed with each other but he realized that doesn’t really make for much conflict needed in a film.
But then Barker saw an episode of “The Simpsons” where Bart gets his hands on a Monkey’s Paw and makes wishes that turn disastrous.
That episode along with Stephen King’s “Misery” allowed Barker to dive deep into his own script about a lonely guy named Bear, who has a huge crush on his co-worker Nikki, but he’s not even remotely brave enough to actually ask her out on a date. But when he comes across a mysterious toy called a “One Wish Willow” that promise to grant his wildest dream, Bear decides to ask for Nikki to love him above anything else in the world.
That might sound like a great idea but when Nikki’s devotion to him turns psychotic, he realizes that getting exactly what you wish for is far more terrifying that he ever could have realized …
