A new “Insidious” film is about to begin production with Lin Shaye returning to the franchise and Amelia Eve joining her as co-lead on the project…
The next installment in the “Insidious” franchise is about to begin filming in Australia with series veteran Lin Shaye returning to the franchise alongside Amelia Eve, who is set as the co-lead on the upcoming sequel.
Jacob Chase is directing the film from a script he wrote alongside David Leslie Johnson, who is well known for his past work on screenplays for “The Conjuring 2,” “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” and the recent smash hit “The Conjuring: Last Rites.”
Details about the film remain under wraps but there’s already a release date set for August 21, 2026.
The newest “Insidious” sequel comes on the heels of 2023’s “Insidious: The Red Door,” which ended up as the most successful film in the franchise after earning more than $189 million at the worldwide box office.
Of course, Shaye is no stranger to these films having appeared in all five of the previous movies starting with “Insidious” back in 2010 and then making at least a cameo in every single movie since then. She’s actually one of only a few people to make appearances in all five “Insidious” films and now she’s set to lead the sixth installment in the franchise.
As for Eve, she’s best known for her appearance in the Mike Flanagan Netflix series “The Haunting of Bly Manor” where she had a lead role in the series first released in 2020. Since that time, Eve has starred in several films including “The Darkness” and “Phea” as well as a starring role in the TV series “Leopard Skin” on Peacock.
Now Eve is teaming up with Shaye for the latest “Insidious” sequel, although it’s unknown at this time if any of the other actors from past installments may make an appearance in this latest sequel.
With filming set to begin next week in Australia, expect more casting news to be revealed in the coming weeks.
