Matthew Lillard is nearing a deal to join the upcoming “Carrie” adaptation headed to Amazon from horror master Mike Flanagan….
Matthew Lillard is in talks to score one a featured role in the upcoming “Carrie” adaptation from famed horror writer and director Mike Flanagan with the series already ordered at Amazon.
Based on the Stephen King book of the same name, the new series consists of eight episodes and tells the story of Carrie White — a teenager who is horrifically bullied by classmates at school while also dealing with an abusive, domineering and religious fanatic mother at home. Carrie eventually reaches her breaking point when a prank gone wrong during senior prom unleashes her true telekinetic abilities and she seeks revenge on everyone.
Of course, Flanagan is no stranger to adapting King’s material after doing films like “Doctor Sleep” and “Gerald’s Game” in the past as well as his upcoming film “The Life of Chuck,” which comes out later this year and also features Lillard in one of the starring roles.
There’s no word yet on who Lillard might be playing in this “Carrie” adaptation but two other key cast members have already been added with Summer H. Howell playing Carrie White and Siena Agudong cast as Sue Snell. Additional cast members are expected to be added in the coming weeks.
Flanagan is developing the “Carrie” series with plans to direct at least a few episodes.
In addition to his upcoming appearance in “The Life of Chuck,” Lillard also has a featured role in the upcoming sequel to “Five Nights at Freddy’s” and he’s also slated to reprise his famed part in the “Scream” franchise with a part in “Scream 7,” due out next year. Lillard is also appearing in the upcoming second season of “Daredevil: Born Again” on Disney+ with that show already in production.
