Mason Gooding is back for “Scream 7”
The actor who portrayed Chad Meeks-Martin in “Scream 5” and “Scream 6” is returning for the latest sequel that also features the return of Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott. Gooding is the first member of the “Core Four” to return for “Scream 7” after Melissa Barrera was fired prior to production starting and Jenna Ortega opted not to return due to scheduling conflicts with her Netflix series “Wednesday.”
There’s no word yet if Jasmin Savoy-Brown, who played Gooding’s sister in the past two “Scream” movies is going to return or not.
In addition to his role in the “Scream” movies, Gooding also recently appeared in the A24 horror-comedy “Y2K’ and also has a starring role in the upcoming horror film “Heart Eyes” due out in 2025.
Gooding joins a cast that includes Campbell, Isabel May, who is confirmed to play Sidney’s daughter in the film and Asa Germann, who is best known for his role in “The Boys” spinoff series “Gen-V.” Recent “Ghostbusters” sequel stars McKenna Grace and Celeste O’Connor are also joining the cast for “Scream 7.”
The latest installment in the long running horror franchise features original screenwriter Kevin Williamson returning to direct “Scream 7” from a script by Guy Busick, who also penned “Scream 5” and “Scream 6.”
Production on “Scream 7” is expected to start in early 2025 with a release date set on February 27, 2026.
