“Riverdale” favorite Lili Reinhart and Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan are set to star in a new point-of-view horror film titled “Bad Boy”…
Point-of-view horror films are all the rage these days after “In a Violent Nature” and “Presence” but the upcoming movie “Bad Boy” definitely puts a new twist on the genre.
“Riverdale” favorite Lili Reinhart and Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan are set to start in the film about a young woman trying desperately to escape the clutches of a serial killer with the story told from the eyes of his faithful dog.
Yes, a point-of-view horror film seen from the eyes of a dog.
Here’s the full synopsis for “Bad Boy”:
“Gary is a good boy who loves his new owner, Cameron (Ke Huy Quan). He gets treats and belly rubs and life is great. Gary isn’t allowed in the basement though. And even if he was, he can’t unlock doors. But there’s a girl (Lili Reinhart) in the basement. And she can’t come out to play. Gary doesn’t know it, but he’s her only chance.”
Casting is still in the process for the dog but apparently the filmmakers are looking for a Terrier.
Jacob Chase — best known for his work on “Come Play” and “The Girl In The Woods” — is set to direct with a script from Travis Braun, who’s script was picked up from the Black List — a group of screenplays selected as the best non-produced scripts.
“Bad Boy” is being produced by Black Bear — the same company responsible for “Longlegs” and the upcoming horror-comedy “The Monkey,” which is based on an original story from Stephen King.
Reinhart takes on the lead role in a horror film for the first time in her career after a breakout role on The CW series “Riverdale” and then starring in films such as “Chemical Hearts” and “Hustlers.”
As for Quan, he’s enjoyed a huge career resurgence after he first came to fame for his role in “The Goonies” and then claimed an Academy Award in 2024 for his role in “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” He’s also starring in the new film “Love Hurts,” which opens on February 7.
