The last trailer for “Stranger Things” has arrived with the series finale dropping on New Year’s Eve as Eleven gears up for a showdown with Vecna…
“I need you to fight one last time … fight for a world beyond Hawkins. Let’s end this kid.”
That’s the voiceover from David Harbour’s Jim Hopper as he prepares Eleven for one last battle against Vecna in the trailer for the “Stranger Things” series finale set to debut on New Year’s Eve on Netflix and in theaters.
The episode titles “The Rightside Up.” runs for 2 hours and 8 minutes with finale dropping at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Wednesday along with special screenings in theaters that run on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
The interest in the “Stranger Things” finale has driven massive ticket sales to theaters with co-creator Ross Duffer teasing additional showings being added just to cover the demand for the last episode.
“Over 1.1 million of you have already RSVPed to the finale screenings on NYE and New Year’s Day, and more than 3,500 showtimes across 620+ theaters are already completely full,” Duffer wrote on Instagram. “What a way to close out a ten-year journey—together.”
When “Stranger Things” season 5, volume 2 ended, the heroes from Hawkins determined that Vecna’s end game is bringing the Abyss — the alternate dimension where he got his powers and first met the Mindflayer — to crash into the real world so he can create his “perfect” universe. To that end, Vecna kidnapped 12 children from Hawkins to help increase his powers as he seeks to enact his masterplan.
Thanks to a plan provided by Steve Harrington, Hopper, Eleven and the rest of the gang are preparing to travel to the Upside Down — which was revealed to be a wormhole between Hawkins and the Abyss — to stop Vecna before he can being the two worlds crashing together.
