Production has officially started on the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” reboot with the film slated to land in theaters in summer 2025…
The hook is back in action!
Production on the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” reboot has officially started with the film picking up years after the original series left off following the original movie from 1997 and the sequel “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer” in 1998.
A post from the official film account on social media confirmed filming is underway with “I Know What You Did Last Summer” slated to land in theaters on July 18, 2025.
The new film is still considered canon to the original two movies with Freddie Prinze Jr. confirmed to reprise his role as Ray Bronson alongside a new cast of characters comprising the updated slasher sequel. Jennifer Love Hewitt was also in talks to reprise her role as Julie James for the new sequel but there’s still no confirmation whether or not she’s actually going to appear in the movie.
The rest of the cast includes Madelyn Cline, Billy Campbell, Chase Sui Wonders, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, Jonah Haur-King, Lola Tung, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Austin Nichols and Gabbriette.
There’s not much known about the plot but it’s likely to follow a similar formula to the original where a group of teenagers accidentally kill someone with their car while celebrating a little too hard around high school graduation but rather than call for help, they cover up the crime and move on with their lives. One year later when the teens return home, they start receiving ominous messages that somebody knows exactly what they did last summer and they’re all going to pay with their lives.
Stay tuned for more information on the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” reboot as it becomes available.
