‘House of the Dragon’ star Olivia Cooke is set to replace Maika Monroe in Chloe Okuno’s new horror film “Brides,” which is loosely based on the “Dracula” mythology…

Olivia Cooke — best known for her role as Alicent Hightower on the HBO “Game of Thrones” spinoff series “House of the Dragon” — is stepping in to replace Maika Monroe in Chloe Okuno’s next film titled “Brides.”
Monroe was originally set to reteam with Okuno after they worked together on the psychological thriller “Watcher” but the veteran “It Follows” actress wasn’t able to make it work with scheduling as she films the romantic drama “Reminders of Him” based on a book by Colleen Hoover.
“Brides” follows Sally Bishop (Cooke) and her husband, who travel to a remote Italian villa where the villa’s owner, a mysterious count, takes a peculiar interest in Sally.
The film is loosely based on the “Dracula” mythology but this version aims to flip “Bram Stoker’s narrative on its head, exploring the struggle between societal repression and carnal desire.”
in addition to her film “Watcher,” Okuno has also directed some recent television episodes including for “Let The Right One In” and “Teacup” for Peacock. “Brides” serves as her second feature film after receiving critical acclaim for her work on “Watcher.”
As for Cooke, she’s currently in production on “House of the Dragon” season 3 for HBO and she’s also appeared on TV series such as “Bates Motel” in the past as well as films like “Me, Earl and the Dying Girl” as well as “Ready Player One.”
There’s no word on when “Brides” might go into production but with Cooke in place to replace Monroe, the rest of the casting for the project can get started.
