Freddie Prinze Jr will reprise his role as Ray for the upcoming “I Know What You Did Last Summer” reboot….
Freddie Prinze Jr. has closed his deal to return as Ray Bronson for the upcoming “I Know What You Did Last Summer” reboot from director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson with a script written by Sam Lansky and Kaytin Robinson from a draft by Leah McKendrick.
Of course, Prinze originated his role with the iconic first film released back in 1997 and then again with the sequel “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer,” which was released in 1998.
Prinze’s co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt remains in talks to return for the new film in her role as Julie James as well but she hasn’t officially signed onto the project just yet.
Plot details on the new “I Know What You Did Last Summer” film are under wraps but we know this does serve as a direct sequel to the original two films in the franchise (there were other forgettable sequels that we won’t even talk about here).
Joining Prinze in the cast are Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers and Jonah Haur-King.
The latest “I Know What You Did Last Summer” is scheduled to be released into theaters on July 18, 2025.
The original film followed four high school friends who accidentally hit somebody while drunk driving home from a late night party as graduation approaches. They end up dumping the body to prevent the crime from ruining their futures and the four friends drift apart as they all go their separate ways. One year later, the four former friends return home and they start receiving ominous and threatening messages that indicate their well-kept secret isn’t so secret after all and a hook-wielding killer begins seeking them out one by one.
Stay tuned for more details about the new “I Know What You Did Last Summer” reboot as it becomes available!
