With “Stranger Things” set to come to an end with the final season debuting on November 26 and then wrapping up on New Year’s Eve, the popular Netflix series is already preparing for multiple spinoffs starting with “Stranger Things: Tales from 85” — an animated series set to release in 2026.
The new series features a standalone story that takes place between “Stranger Things” seasons 2 and 3 with a new voice cast stepping into the famous roles from the show. Read the full plot synopsis for the new show below:
“The year is 1985, it’s a freezing winter in Hawkins, and our heroes are about to embark on an epic journey where “the original characters must fight new monsters and unravel a paranormal mystery terrorizing their town in Stranger Things: Tales From ’85.”
When Matt and Ross Duffer were initially contemplating potential spinoffs, which now includes the Broadway play “Stranger Things: The First Shadow,” they actually came up with the concept for this animated series right away.
“When we started talking about was there anything else we wanted to do with ‘Stranger Things,’this was one of our first ideas,” Ross Duffer said. “With animation there’s really no limits. [Co-showrunner] Eric [Robles] and his team can just go wild … and they have.”
The voice cast for the upcoming series includes Odessa A’zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips as well as:
- Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven
- Jolie Hoang-Rappaport (In Your Dreams) as Max
- Luca Diaz as Mike
- Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas
- Braxton Quinney as Dustin
- Ben Plessala as Will
- Brett Gipson as Hopper
