Elle Fanning is currently in talks to take on the starring role in “Badlands,” the new “Predator” spinoff film from director Dan Trachtenberg….
Arnold Schwarzenegger. Danny Glover. Amber Midthunder. And now Elle Fanning takes on The Predator.
The 26-year-old Emmy nominated actor from “The Great” and “The Girl from Plainville” is currently in talks to star in “Badlands” — the new film set in “The Predator” universe from director Dan Trachtenberg. Of course, Trachtenberg also directed the hit film “Prey,” which reinvigorated the entire “Predator” franchise with Midthunder starring as a Native American warrior taking on the alien creature who landed on Earth.
There’s also ongoing talks for “Prey 2” with Midthunder potentially returning to her role but that film remains in active development.
There are no plot details surrounding “Badlands” but the film is expected to go into production later this year.
Fanning has enjoyed quite a bit of success lately, especially after her three season arc playing Catherine the Great on the TV series “The Great,” which earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 2022. Beyond her roles on TV, Fanning has also made appearances in feature films such as “Galveston” based on the book from “True Detective” creator Nic Pizzolatto as well as both “Maleficent” films from Disney.
Fanning is also slated to star in the upcoming film “The Nightingale” where she’ll rejoin her sister Dakota Fanning in the project being directed by Melanie Laurent, who was also behind the camera for “Galveston.”
There’s already anticipation building around “Badlands,” especially after “Prey” became a breakout hit for Hulu in 2022. Stay tuned for more information on the upcoming “Predator” spinoff as it becomes available!
