The 40th anniversary of “A Nightmare on Elm Street” will see the horror classic finally get a 4K release along with a ton of special features including an unrated version of the film…
Get ready for Freddy.
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” Warner Bros. is finally releasing a 4K version of the classic horror film on October 15 with a ton of special features to sweeten the package for physical media collectors.
There have been calls for a 4K restoration of “A Nightmare on Elm Street” for years but now it’s finally happening with the release in October, which also includes the unrated cut of the movie. While it’s not exactly a ton of new footage, the unrated cut features eight additional seconds of Tina’s gruesome death scene that had to be edited out before the film was released into theaters back in 1984.
Along with the unrated cut, the new 4K version of “A Nightmare on Elm Street” includes these bonus features:
- Ready Freddy Focus Points
- Commentary with Wes Craven, Robert Englund, Heather Langenkamp, Ronnie Blakely, Robert Shaye, and Sara Risher.
- Commentary with Wes Craven, Heather Langenkamp, John Saxon, and Jacques Haitkin.
- Alternate endings
- The House that Freddy Built: The Legacy of New Line Horror
- Never Sleep Again: A Nightmare on Elm Street
- Night Terrors: The Origins of Wes Craven’s Nightmares
“Can your nightmares be fatal? In this classic of the horror film genre that launched a movie franchise, a hideously scarred man who was murdered by a lynch mob returns years later in the terrifying nightmares of his killers’ teenaged children … And the dreaming teenagers are starting to die in their sleep”
