Maika Monroe is re-teaming with “Watcher” director Chloe Okuno for a new vampire flick that plans on turning Bram Stoker’s Dracula on its head…

Maika Monroe is busier than ever these days and she’s already signed on for another project after just recently landing the lead role in the upcoming remake of “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle.”

This time around, Monroe is re-teaming with director Chloe Okuno after they worked together on the criminally underrated psychological thriller “Watcher” but now they’re tackling the vampire genre with a new film titled “Brides.”

Set in 1960s Italy, Sally Bishop (Monroe) and her husband travel to a remote villa in the wake of Sally’s nervous breakdown. The villa’s owner, a mysterious count, takes a peculiar interest in Sally. But he gets far more than he anticipated when Sally’s feminist chaos is added to his perfect, violent Eden of vampire brides.

Okuno is directing from a script she also wrote with the story described as “gothic, glamorous, and gory” with plans to “flip Bram Stoker’s narrative on its head, exploring the struggle between societal repression and carnal desire.”

The film is currently in pre-production with shooting expected to start next Spring in 2025.

Monroe has been in high demand lately after starring in “Longlegs” alongside Nicolas Cage in what became one of the most talked about horror films of the year. In addition to “Brides” and “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle,” Monroe is also preparing to return to the role that made her famous with a sequel to the 2014 breakout hit “It Follows” in the works called “They Follow.”
