Following the massive success of “Evil Dead Rise,” director Lee Cronin has his next film set up at Blumhouse/Atomic Monster and New Line Cinema…

Making the critically acclaimed “Evil Dead Rise” was almost certainly going to afford director Lee Cronin an opportunity to almost pick and choose his future projects and now he’s finally found a home for his next film.

Cronin is set to write and direct his top secret new horror film with Blumhouse and Atomic Monster producing with the movie set up for distribution by New Line Cinema.

The film is already set for an April 2026 release date, although there are no details about the plot much less the genre that Cronin plans to explore in his next movie.

“Lee’s work is always fresh and surprising and he has an intriguing, modern take on something quite ancient that I think audiences will love,” Blumhouse founder Jason Blum said in a statement. “This also marks an exciting series of firsts for us: Atomic Monster and Blumhouse’s first time working with Lee and our first joint project for Warner Bros. We can’t wait to get started.”

Of course, Blumhouse and Atomic Monster — the production company started by “The Conjuring” universe creator James Wan — merged together to create a powerhouse home for horror with the two labels still producing films independent of each other but also teaming up on certain projects. Working with Cronin appears to be the perfect time for Blumhouse and Atomic Monster to combine powers with New Line Cinema — which operates under the Warner Bros. label — set to serve as the studio.

Cronin’s take on “Evil Dead Rise” helped revive the beloved franchise with the film earning more than $150 million at the box office. The success of that film led to original creator Sam Raimi seeking out two more directors to begin work on a pair of new “Evil Dead” films that will arrive in the near future.
