Director Andre Ovredal has worked on a variety of horror films over the years including the imminently terrifying movie “The Autopsy of Jane Doe” and the adaptation of famed young horror books “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.”
After his most recent film where he explored a new angle on the Dracula mythology with “The Last Voyage of the Demeter,” Ovredal was drawn to a script from Zachary Donohue and T.W. Burgess about a couple who decided to ditch their home in Brooklyn and instead adopt the van life where they would literally live on the road while being hunted by a dark entity that stalks weary travelers.
Ovredal saw the script as a haunted house story on wheels and that immediately hooked him enough to make the movie. He was also able to use isolation as a real weapon during filming as he cut off his protagonists from the rest of the world and left them alone to deal with a demon hell bent on making sure they never get to their next destination …
