Nobody saw it coming. When “Ready or Not” was released in 2019, the filmmaking team known as Radio Silence was far from a household name, Samara Weaving was still building her name in the industry and $6 million budget wasn’t built for a blockbuster.
But word of mouth and positive reviews helped the film earn over $57 million at the box office and filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett and Guy Busick were immediately intrigued about making a sequel but the popularity of that film started getting them even bigger jobs — namely resurrecting the “Scream” franchise, which became a priority for their next two films.
After making “Abigail,” the team got a call from producer Tripp Vinson asking if they’d be interested in coming back for a sequel if the production centered around their availability.
The Radio Silence crew reviewed the old script and they forgot how much they enjoyed writing it but so many years later, it was going to require some reworking and reshaping.
They also decided to approach “Abigail” star Kathryn Newton to see if she would be interested in teaming with them again.
Once Weaving was also on board, the crew was off and running. The sequel picks up just moments after Grace vanquishes the La Domas family and she finds that her sister has joined the party with a Satanic cabal of the most powerful people on Earth determined to finish what started 24 hours earlier with the siblings thrust into a harrowing battle to survive …
