“Jennifer’s Body” director Karyn Kusama has seen some of what Diablo Cody has written for the sequel and she expects a very similar tone for the next film…

“Jennifer’s Body” wasn’t a smash hit when first released back in 2009 but the film gained cult classic status over the years and now remains a beloved favorite among horror fans.
Now plans for a sequel are fully in motion with original writer Diablo Cody penning the script with a deal in place at 20th Century Studios to make the movie.
Original director Karyn Kusama couldn’t give away too much when asked about the highly anticipated sequel but she promised Cody has something great in store with her script.
“I know she’s working on it right now, and I’m very excited to hear what comes of it,” Kusama told Deadline. “I know some of the bones of it, so I’m not going to give anything away, but it sounds fun and crazy like the first film. And I have no doubt that Diablo will do something absolutely incredible with it.”
“Jennifer’s Body” was completely mis-marketed when first released and the movie effectively died at the box office but a release on physical media eventually found an audience. Since then, “Jennifer’s Body” has become a huge fan favorite with everybody involved — including Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried — saying they’d be on board for a sequel.
While it was disappointing that the original film took time to find an audience, Kuzama couldn’t be happier with the reception that “Jennifer’s Body” eventually received.
“I’m just so grateful that the film managed to find its audience, perhaps on a different timeline than any of us might have expected or hoped for, but I’m just so thankful that the work continues to speak to people,” Kusama said. “I’m just so satisfied by that.”
There’s no word yet on when the “Jennifer’s Body” sequel might actually get into production but it seems like the movie is closer than ever to actually happening.
