The first teaser trailer for Lee Cronin’s “The Mummy” has arrived with new plot details revealed for the upcoming film…
“Evil Dead Rise” director Lee Cronin is back with his latest film and this time he’s tackling “The Mummy” — a new take on the classic Universal monster but his version is much different than anything ever seen before.
The first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated new film dropped on Monday with a synopsis for the film, which drops in theaters on April 17. Here’s the plot for the film:
“The young daughter of a journalist disappears into the desert without a trace—eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare.”
Cronin is directing “The Mummy” with James Wan and Blumhouse producing and he’s teasing the new horror film as something not quite seen before … or perhaps ever again.
“This is a very different kind of Mummy movie,” Cronin told IGN when the trailer dropped “It’s an insane mashup to suggest, but [the film is] almost one part ‘Poltergeist’ and one part ‘Seven,’ but put through my lens and the way that I like to entertain people.
“When I talk about ‘Poltergeist,’ what I mean is the domestic circumstances and the warmth of the family. And when I talk about ‘Seven,’ what I mean is the dark, investigative angle and the secrets that exist behind it. And they are two aspects within two different tram lines, but two places that I love and I’m trying to bring them together in center court.”
It’s safe to say that’s a description too good to pass up when this film hits theaters in April.
“The Mummy” stars Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, Natalie Grace, with Veronica Falcón.
