His success operating inside “The Conjuring” universe with films like “The Nun” not to mention working on the hugely popular “IT” movies led to Dauberman receiving a call from Sony to pitch him on the idea of adapting one of their video games into a feature film.
It turns out he was familiar with the game because its one he played with his son so he immediately started theorizing ideas on how he would transform the story into a movie.
He teamed with writer Blair Butler, who penned movies like “Hell Fest” and “The Invitation,” to crack the script and he eventually teamed with director David F. Sandberg, who he previously worked with on “Annabelle: Creation,” to bring his vision to life.
